Since making his debut in 2018, the 26-year-old has played in more than 100 games for the province. Prior to earning his only Ireland cap with two tries in the 2022 Six Nations victory over Italy, his exceptional 2020–21 season earned him a spot at full-back in the Pro14 dream squad.

"Delighted" to extend his contract with Ulster, Lowry remarked.

"I am excited for the future of this group and looking forward to seeing where we can get to both as a team and individually," he stated.

Bryn Cunningham, general manager of Ulster, commended Lowry's professionalism and "exemplary" approach. "His versatility is also a huge strength, whether playing on the wing or at full-back, and his competitiveness on the pitch belies his physical stature," Cunningham said.

"With young backs coming through, Michael is the perfect role model for others to follow."

While Ireland Sevens standout Zac Ward signed a three-year contract on Thursday after making an impression during his trial period, Lowry follows Ben Carson in extending his Ulster contract.
