Team Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry were unable to capture a medal. McIlroy however, will rue his shot that went into the water on the 15th hole – which ended in a double bogey, leaving him two shots behind Hideki Matsuyama in the bronze medal place.

For Scheffler, it’s another huge milestone in an incredible season – adding to his Masters victory in April and his five other wins on the PGA Tour.

The PGA Tour will return next week at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
